Android carplay screen for BMW 1/2 Series from 2005 to 2021.

Since their launch in 2005, the BMW 1 Series and 2 Series have undergone numerous facelifts and configuration adjustments, encompassing different powertrains, drive modes, and exterior/interior designs.

The following are the key configuration evolutions of the two models that can be upgrade to Android CarPlay screen :

1 Series E87 2006-2008 Factory without display and Idrive

1 Series E81/E82/E87/E88 2006-2009 CCC

1 Series E81 E82 E87 E88 2009-2012 with CIC system

1 Series F20 2 Series F22 F23 2013-2016 / F21 M2 F87 2013-2016 with NBT system .Factory with 6.5inch display

1 Series F20/F21 2-Series F22 2018 – with EVO system.

2 Series F45 F46 MPV 2014-2016 with NBT system. Factory with a 6.5 inch display.

2 Series F45 F46 MPV 2017-2021 with EVO system. 

So now let’s take a look at what you need to pay attention to when buying a screen for your car?

 

1> 1 Series E87 2006-2008 Factory without display and Idrive

The android head unit for 1 Series E87 Factory without display and Idrive is equipped with a mouse.

The unit is universal for both left and right hand side drive, but the mouse only supports left-hand drive. 

Since the original car does not have a screen, when installing the screen, it is necessary to cut the original car's central control according to the model of the Android screen.

2> E87  CCC（Car Communication Computer）/CIC（Car Infotainment Computer）

the 1 Series E87 CCC and CIC models look identical to the base model, differing only the LVDS plug. Therefore, when you purchasing, must distinguish between CCC and CIC and place orders according to the system.

The results are identical before and after installation,The following two images show the pre- and post-installation results.

 

Note: The CCC system will not support the original vehicle system after installing android head unit.

  

3> 1 Series F20 2 Series F22 F23 2013-2016 / F21 M2 F87 2013-2016 with NBT system factory with 6.5inch display 

Note the right hand side drive head unit is different as left , so if you are right hand drive, must tell seller.

4> F20 EVO 2017-2019

The central control of the 1 Series F20 EVO is different from that of the NBT.

Please pay attention to distinguish the system when placing an order, and the picture of your original car's central control.

5> 2 Series F45 F46 MPV（F45/F46，2014-2021）

NBT and EVO 2 systems, the central control is the similar, but the system is different, as shown below:

In summary:

-- The 1 Series and 2 Series chassis code E series monitors all look the same, but require differentiating the original vehicle system. There are 10.25/12.3/14.9’’ 3 options.
-- The 1 Series and 2 Series chassis code F series monitors require differentiating the system. NBT system should check the driver side. Different systems result in different monitors appearances.There are 10.25/12.3/14.9’’ 3 options.
-- The 2 Series F45 monitors looks the same, but requires differentiating the system. There are 10.25/12.3/14.9’’ 3 options.
